Organic elements and intelligent design inspired Studio Tate’s approach to the interior architecture of a classic-meets-contemporary collection of 12 two and three bedroom luxury apartments in bayside Melbourne.
Materiality, light and reflectivity are translated through the textural use of glass and artisanal, handmade tiles with their natural forms and surfaces in bathrooms and wet areas, while the deep azure of the ocean manifests in kitchen cabinetry, offset by a granite chosen for its striations that mirror the rocks that lead to the ocean nearby.
Design and amenity embrace tradition and craftsmanship in key elements that become ‘furniture pieces’; an island bench in the kitchen has the familiarity of a kitchen table and free-standing bathroom vanities feel comfortable yet contemporary. This same essence transcends the amenity with carefully considered details like double pantries and walk in wardrobes with perimeter beading.
The organic nature of the project’s surrounds is also reflected in paving and brickwork that flows into the entrance lobby, creating a natural connection and seamless transition from inside to out.
