The Melbourne head office of global gaming company Activision Blizzard is a blend of retro nostalgia and sophisticated design. Responding to the client’s desire for a workplace that embodies both comfort and familiarity, Studio Tate drew inspiration from 1970s and 80s gaming consoles, challenging conventional notions of tech business aesthetics.
The entrance features a stainless steel reception desk with a teal finish, establishing a sci-fi-inspired ambience. Views of the atrium with foliage-draped concrete enhance the atmosphere, while strategically placed walnut timber-lined banquettes in burgundy leather address the need for an approachable space.
Coloured vinyl defines four large open-plan workspaces, removing closed offices. Meeting rooms, a games room pod, and a server room pod cater to a diverse range of client needs. The breakout space, with bleacher-style seating for up to 110 people, adds versatility.
Designed as an escapism space aligned with the company ethos of ‘You gotta have fun to make fun,’ Activision Blizzard SHG reimagines the tech workplace, combining gaming nostalgia with a sophisticated and relaxed environment.
